There was an argument amongst the band over how many people could fit in Tiananmen Square. I believe the final answer handed down by Ping was that one million people could fit before the Mao memorial was built. Now... perhaps nobody's measured. It's pretty big, though. There's really not much to tell about our experience in Tiananmen. We walked from one end of the square to the other and got a group photograph (which I only have a hardcopy of, so it's not in this gallery.. but a less-formal group photograph is). We did not enter the Mao memorial museum thingy.

I'm not really sure what people do here.. it actually seems like a rather pointless open space, besides being a tourist attraction. I don't know if everybody in the square was a tourist (or somebody trying to sell things to tourists) or if Beijing residents actually hang out here on occassion.
